The 300th birth anniversary of Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, the great 18th century Jarnail of the Sikh Panth is coming on 5 May 2023. The birth centenary of this great warrior of Sikh history is being celebrated on a large scale under the patronage of Shri Akal Takht Saheb and under the guidance of Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal (Panjwa Takht) chief Baba Balbir Singh and all the Nihang Singh groups. 

A special invitation has been given to Shri Akal Takht Saheb's Jathedar Singh Saheb Giani Harpreet Singh to deliver a message to the Khalsa Panth in the main programme. International Sikh Forum and Shiromani Gatka Federation of India are playing the main role in specially constituted Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Janam Shatabdi Committee for these celebrations while different sikh organisations and Ramgarhia Sabhas of Haryana, Punjab and Delhi are part of the centenary celebrations. 

Jagjit Singh Dardi recipient of Padma Shri, has been made the chairman of the organizing committee While Pritpal Singh Pannu, General Secretary of International Sikh Forum and Gurtej Singh Khalsa, President of Shiromani Gatka Federation of India will coordinate the entire function.

Shiromani Panth Akali Budha Dal Mukhi Baba Balbir Singh, Padma Shri Jagjit Singh Dardi, Baba Sukha Singh Kar Sewa, Baba Gurmeet Singh Gurdwara Raj Karega Khalsa Dachar, Baba Joga Singh Gurdwara Mata Saheb Kaur Nanaksar Karnal, Baba Dalwinder Singh Khalsa Israna Saheb, General Secretary of International Sikh Forum Pritpal Singh Pannu and President of Shiromani Gatka Federation of India Gurtej Singh Khalsa released the posters of this great centenary celebration  during the press conference held at Chandigarh Press Club today.

It is notable that Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia along with Baba Jassa Singh Ahluwalia and Baba Baghel Singh conquered Delhi in 1783 AD and hoisted the Khalsa flag,  Nishan Saheb on the ramparts of the Red Fort.

As a sign of victory, Baba Jassa Singh broke Takht-e-Taus, the symbol of Mughal pride, by sitting on which Aurangzeb had ordered Guru Tegh Bahadur to be martyred, and brought its base stone from Delhi to Shri Amritsar.

This stone base is still present in Ramgarhia Bunga built along the parikrama of Shri Darbar Saheb as a symbol of Sikh pride and bravery. Baba Jassa Singh along with other Sikh generals of that time, freed thousands of daughters of India from Afgan invader Ahmad Shah Abdali's possession, he built 362 small and big forts including Kila Ramgarh in Amritsar. 

To remember such a great warrior who was never defeated in the battlefield, his birth tricentenary will be celebrated with full glory and enthusiasm.Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Janam Shatabdi Committee will organise Gurmat Samagam and Khalsa Fateh March on a large scale. 

Cooperation of various Gurdwara committees including Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee, Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, all Nihang Singh Jathebandis, Kar Sewa, Nanaksar and other sects is being taken in these gatherings.

Gurmat Samagam will be organized in West Delhi in collaboration with all Gurdwara Committees of Shiromani Sikh Sangat Sabha Vishnu Garden, Hari Nagar and Paschim Vihar Delhi on 29th April.

The Khalsa Fateh March will start from Delhi on 30th April, which will pass through different areas of Sonepat, Panipat and Karnal and end in Karnal on 3rd May. This Khalsa Fateh March will be taken out as per the ancient Sikh traditions.

The main function will be held on May 7 at the new grain market in Karnal, in which thousands of devotees from across the country and abroad will participate. After the first phase of opening celebrations Gurmat Samagam and Khalsa Fateh March will be organized throughout the year in Haryana, Delhi, Punjab and other parts of the country.

On the other hand, through a specially prepared light and sound drama, the life history of Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia, the founder of Ramgarhia Misl, people will be made aware, especially to the young generations.

During these gatherings, where national competitions of Sikh martial art Gatka will be organized, Dastar bandi competition will also be organized. Sikh youth will be motivated to stay away from drugs and take Amrit from Panj Piyare Sahiban.

Heads of major groups of Sikh community, Nihang Singh Groups, famous Ragi, Dhadi, preachers are participating in all these celebrations including Giani Gurdev Singh Australia, Hazuri Ragi of Sachkhand Shri Harmandar Saheb Bhai Shokeen Singh, Bhai Shubhdeep Singh, Dhadi Jatha Bhai Gurpratap Singh Sugga of Dal Panth Bidhi Chand, Famous historian Sukhpreet Singh Udhoke, Giani Sher Singh Ambala, Giani Kulwant Singh Ludhiana. 

Ragi Bhai Jagmohan Singh Patiala, and other cult personalities. During the main function celebrities who have brought laurels to the Sikh community by their works at the world level will also be honored with the Baba Jassa Singh Ramgarhia Award.

The history of the 18th century is the history of the Sikh Misls. The Sikhs were divided into 12 Misls. In spite of mutual ideological differences, all the sects used to work together. The birth centenary of Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia will inspire the group groups of the Sikh community to unite and work for the Chardi art of the Khalsa Panth by calling mutual differences.
