Hitting out at SAD leader Bikram Singh Majithia for his frivolous and baseless allegations on the Punjab government, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) said that the government is more stringent than any previous governments and 84 FIRs registered so far against mining Mafia.

Issuing a statement from here, AAP spokesperson Neel Garg rejected the allegations of mining in Punjab under AAP government and said that mining contract was given to Rakesh Chaudhary by previous governments.

He said that AAP government has cancelled his contract immediately after forming the government but Rakesh Chaudhary has taken a stay from the High Court against the cancellation of his contract.

Training guns at Majithia for misleading people of Punjab with his scurrilous allegations, Garg said that AAP will soon float a new mining policy and till now the Punjab and Haryana High Court has a stay on mining.

He further said that the High Court ordered to continue contract of Rakesh Chaudhary. The court also ordered him to deposit Rs 6 crore with the department on October 2022. However, the previous government had waived it.

Reiterating his government's firm commitment to eradicate mining mafia, Garg said that under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann, AAP will not tolerate loot of people of Punjab and it will provide sand and gravel at affordable rates in the state.
