To promote local languages and culture, Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Kathua Centre on Saturday organised a Multilingual Mushaira and Cultural Bonanza here in the Rajiv Gandhi College.

Principal, Indian Public School Barinder Jyot Kour was the Chief Guest, while programme was presided over by Head of Department B.A. B.Ed Integrated, Rajiv Gandhi College Dr. Devinder Sharma in presence of the staff and students of the college.

During the programme, poets recited their creations in Dogri, Urdu, Hindi and Punjabi languages sensitizing the gathering about different dynamics of the social evils like Drug addiction, literacy and Dowry system and its effect on individuals and families.

The prominent among those who recited their writings included Vijay Sharma, Madan Lal Toofan, Shashi Sharma, Sham Lal Khajuria, Sunita Kumari, R.S Katal and Balak Ram. A scintillating cultural programme featuring Dogri, Hindi and Punjabi songs was presented by the artists of the Information Department which received rounds of thunderous applause from the audience.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Barinder Jyot kour appreciated the poets and artists for throwing light on the various subjects of social importance through their writings and songs. She extended gratitude to the Information Department for organising the informative programmes.
