A meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) was held today under the chairmanship of Additional District Development Commissioner (ADDC) Kulgam, Showkat Ahmad Rather at the mini-secretariat, here.

The meeting was convened to discuss various measures to curb the drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district and review the implementation of decisions and directions passed in previous meetings.During the meeting, threadbare discussion was held on various issues related to incidence of drug addiction, areas of concern and hotspots of drug use and action taken by the concerned departments with regard to curb the menace of drugs.

The ADDC sought details from the concerned departments about the measures taken to control the drug menace.It was informed that a massive awareness campaign in all blocks of the district was carried out by involving PRIs, school children and locals in concerned areas.

During the meeting, it was also informed that w.e.f 01 January, 2022 to 31 October, 2022, 84 cases were registered under NDPS whereas 36  challans were produced before court of law.Further it was given out that intense poppy straw destruction was carried out by Joint teams of revenue and police in the district throughout the season.

The meeting was attended by ADC, SDM Noorabad, ACR, CMO, DSWO, DSP-HQ, Tehsildars, DFO, Drug Officer and other officers from police and civil administration.
