The “Janjatiya Gaurav Divas”, was today observed at the mini secretariat here to mark the birth anniversary of iconic tribal leader Birsa Munda who fearlessly worked for the freedom of India.The programme marked participation of masses particularly members of the tribal community.

On the occasion, various speakers from the District Administration and Tribal community threw light on the priceless sacrifices by various tribal leaders on the path of securing freedom of the nation.Speaking at the event, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, Dr.Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat said that the ‘Janjatiya Gourav Divas’ is dedicated to the memory of brave tribal freedom fighters so that coming generations could know about their sacrifices for the country.

He also highlighted various initiatives and measures that have been taken by the Administration for upliftment and progress of tribal communities.He added that the government is focused and slew of measures have been taken for the betterment of the tribal community.

CPO Kulgam Zahid Sajad gave a brief on the developmental activities and implementation status of various tribal schemes in the district.DDC Member from Manzgam, Jameela Chowdary complimented District Administration for making the EKLAVYA model residential school functional at Tangmarg and for their pro tribal approach towards the tribal community.PRI members, District Officers and Tribal people in large numbers attended the event.
