The Aam Aadmi Clinics, set up with the aim of providing quality primary health services at the doorsteps of the common people by the Bhagwant Mann government of Punjab, has completed two months.Describing its achievements during a press conference on Monday, Punjab Health Minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra said that the opposition parties were criticizing the AAP government for setting up the Aam Aadmi Clinic but these clinics are proving to be a boon for residents as in the last two months, 347193 people were treatment and 45576 tests were done in these centres.
On 15th August, Mann government had dedicated 100 Aam Aadmi Clinics to Punjab on the occasion of Amrit Mahotsav of Independence. Of these, 65 were built in urban and 35 in rural areas. A total of 94 types of medicines and 41 diagnostic tests are being done free of cost in these clinics.
Buoyed by the success of Aam Aadmi Clinic, Mann Government has taken another major decision in the field of health services. The Health Minister announced that now all CHC Community Health Centers and PHC Primary Health Centers in Punjab would be developed on the lines of common man's clinics. Now various types of medicines and testing facilities will be made available here too.
Maternal mortality rate also improved
The Health Minister said that the maternal mortality rate in Punjab has come down to 114 from 129 in 2018-19.
Decrease in the number of dengue-malaria
The state has recorded a staggering decline in the number of dengue and malaria patients. Its number has come down from 23500 last year to 3446 this time. The Health Minister has attributed this success to dry day appeal by the Mann government. He said, “At least 10 districts of Punjab are now dengue free. Our target is to make Punjab a dengue free state by 2024.”
Government is concerned about hepatitis, increasing the number of treatment centers from 68 to 140
Under the National Viral Hepatitis Control Program, the number of centers for the treatment of black jaundice is being increased from 68 to 140. The Punjab government has set a target to make the state free from black jaundice by 2030.
