Kishtwar Development Authority, in collaboration with Rural Development Department Inderwal and District Youth Services and Sports Kishtwar, on Thursday organised a swimming competition at Amrit Sarovar, TRC Chatroo. Around 98 youths participated in the competition.

Deputy Commissioner, Dr Devansh Yadav, chaired the programme. In his address, the DC highlighted the importance of such events for encouraging the youth to set their life goals. “Such events help in channelising the energy of youth in a positive direction  and promote sports talent of youth,” he said.

He asked the departments to promote Chatroo area and encourage local youth to contribute their bit towards Swach Kishtwar and Drug Free Kishtwar campaign. “The success of anti- drug campaign launched to eradicate the menace from the District can become successful only with the participation of Youth,” he added.

The DC Kishtwar also mentioned in his address that this is just a beginning as many more such events will be organised for Youth.SDM Chatroo, Inderjeet Parihar; ACP Kishtwar, Zakir Hussain; DYSS officer, Kharati Lal; BDO Inderwal, Tasleem Wani; Tehsildar Chatroo, Suman Ji Sharma; Major G S Bathia; CDPO Chatroo, Kuldeep Kumar; Principal GDC Chatroo, Dr Ashiq Hussain; SHO Chatroo Perwaiz Khanday, PRIs and a large number of youth attended the programme.

Cash Prize of Rs 3000, Rs 2500 and Rs 2000, besides citations and trophies were presented to the winner, first and second runners up namely Sonu George, Sahil Hussain and Mashkoor Ahmed.
