Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rahul Pandey today convened a meeting of officers to discuss modalities for smooth implementation of Amnesty Scheme for domestic Power consumers in the district.

While reviewing the progress under Amnesty Scheme for domestic consumers recently launched by the government, the DC laid stress on maximum dissemination of awareness so that last mile users can avail its benefit.

The DC exhorted upon the concerned officers to devised out an awareness plan covering all panchayats so that benefits such as waive-off of  100% interest/surcharge on outstanding electricity bills in favour of domestic consumers accumulated up to March 31, 2022 and  provision for payment in installments can be availed by maximum consumers.

The DC also called for spreading the message through installation of publicity flex/hoardings and distribution pamphlets during Block Diwas, Thana Diwas, Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, Swachhta Pakhwada etc for proper spread of message related to Amnesty scheme. Besides, Meter Readers of respective areas shall be roped in to spread the word on Amnesty Scheme and procedure to avail the opportunity.   

It was given out in the meeting that a special Bill collection point to be set up in coordination with the local JK Bank branch/ Khidmat Centres so that people can deposit their bills and installments in a hassle free manner. 

Later, the DC also took review of the ongoing works undertaken by the different wings of the department, further stressed upon all concerned officers to expedite and ensure timely execution of all works especially augmentation works under RDSS and B2V.The meeting was attended by Superintendent Engineer JPDCL Karam Chand, CPO Kathua Uttam Singh and other concerned Engineers of different sub divisions.
