National Senior citizens day observed in Kulgam

Department of Social Welfare Kulgam today  organised a series of activities to  honour Senior citizens of District Kulgam on the occasion of National Senior citizens day .On the occasion, the Chief guest District Development Council Chairman Kulgam Mohammad Afzal Parray inaugrated free Geriatric health camp for senior citizens.eanwhile an awareness camp on the theme of 'Rights of Senior Citizens & legal safeguards' was organised in which hundreds of Senior Citizens from across the District participated.Resource persons from Department of Social Welfare Kulgam, & District Legal Services Authority Kulgam imparted awareness on the theme.

The DDC Chairperson lauded the efforts of the department while highlighting the need for improvement in delivery of various services provided by the government to the Senior  Citizens & vulnerable sections of Society.

Present on the occasion were Tehsil Social Welfare Officers, Doctors and other staff members from Geratric Department of District Hospital Kulgam &  Women Welfare Officer from Mahila shakti kendra. After the conclusion of the awareness programme, participants were taken for a trip to Aharbal as a gesture of honour to the Senior Citizens.
