Regional Transport Authority approves e- Rickshaw permits

The Regional Transport Authority Rajouri today discussed introduction of e- transport vehicles to reduce the carbon footprints and overcome the problem of non availability of vehicles on the short, peripheral routes, especially last mile connectivity here at a meeting.

The meeting was chaired by Deputy Commissioner, Babila Rakhwal and attended by SSP, Amit Gupta; Assistant Regional Transport Officer, Rajesh Gupta and other stakeholders.At the outset, the ARTO, apprised the meeting about the operation of the services, identified routes on which e-Rickshaws service shall ply, besides providing transport facilities for heritage places in the district .

The meeting  was apprised that a total 47 applications were received for different categories of vehicles viz stage/ contract carriage/auto Rickshaw out of  which 25 cases have been approved and  22 were disapproved  for various reasons as the approval was given on merit basis. 

The RTA also approved 11   identified routes for e-Rikshaws to replace the existing autos to provide easy transport and cheaper transport facility to the common people as well as to reduce pollution.The DC further informed that interested persons/ general public can approach to apply for e-Rickshaws/Autos for heritage places and other routes.
