Deputy Commissioner Vishesh Sarangal today visited  Beas river banks in Nadala and Dhilwan areas of Kapurthala district to review the flood control arrangements in view of the upcoming monsoon season.Directing the authorities to expedite the work of strengthening the identified weak points on the Dhusi bandh , he said that the work must be completed in next 4-5 days on the banks of Beas river under flood control measures.  

Apart from this the Irrigation Department was directed to report on the release of water from Pong Dam and the water flowing in the river on daily basis besides setting up the district level control room. He also said that the situation in the district is totally normal but as a precautionary measure the district administration had issued instructions to all the departmental officers remain vigilant  and take precautionary measures.

 He also directed the authorities to complete the arrangements of sand bags besides marking the safer places in form of government buildings, shrines and religious places so that the affected people in case of need to be shifted immediately.

Deputy Commissioner also said that the district administration has prepared an action plan for the management of natural calamities, under which the relief work in case of any calamity has been mapped out. He also asked the concerned SDMs, Revenue Department, Irrigation and Drainage Department to work together for better coordination so that immediate action could be taken as required.

On this occasion District Revenue Officer G.S.  Benipal and officials from other departments were also present .
