‘Har Gaon Haryali’ programme kick-started at Kulgam

Under Green J&K Drive programme, Forest Division Kulgam in collaboration with Social Forestry Division Anantnag/ Kulgam today organized a plantation drive within the premises of DC office (Mini secretariat) here, under the theme ‘Har Gaon Hariyali’. DDC Chairperson, Mohd Afzal Parrey, Deputy Commissioner Kulgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat and DDC members and other officers planted saplings of various plants during the plantation drive. It was informed by DFO, Kulgam that under ‘Har Gaon Hariyali’ each and every panchayat of the district will be covered by distribution of plants/seed balls of high yielding fodder species.

This process will also promote Agro-forestry and will reduce pressure on forests on account of grazing by increasing the production of fodder outside the forest area.Moreover, it will also involve different stakeholders’ viz., Panchayats, JFMCs, BMCs, NGOs, etc.Meanwhile cheques were given to two Village panchayat plantation communities of Logopora and Sahu sachin amounting to Rs, 10.85 lacs by the Social Forestry Dept Kulgam. During the event, LED-Lanterns were also distributed among the forest fringe villagers of Veshew Range.
