The development and maintenance work of about 100 parks taken over from GMADA in Sector 76 to 80 of Mohali was inaugurated by Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu today by planting saplings in the park of Sector 78. Senior Deputy Mayor Amrik Singh Somal, Deputy Mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi, Commissioner Municipal Corporation Kamal Garg were also present on the occasion.Speaking on the occasion Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu said that the condition of these parks which were taken over from GMADA was very bad and first of all the wild vegetation has been removed. He said that Rs.95 lakh would be spent for the development and maintenance of these parks for which tenders have been passed and a company named Ajit Nursery has been entrusted with the task.Mayor Amarjit Singh Jeeti Sidhu said that almost all the parks in Mohali have come under the purview of Mohali Municipal Corporation after the work of parks in Sector 76 to 80 came under the purview of Municipal Corporation. He said that GMADA was supposed to pay about Rs. 50 crore to the Municipal Corporation every year out of which huge amount was still outstanding. He said that due to the personal interest and intervention of Health Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu about Rs. 25 crore I have been given by the GMADA and estimates in this regard are being prepared by the Municipal Corporation to get  respective amount from GMADA.Moyor Jeeti Sidhu said that not only the development of these parks would enhance the beauty of Mohali but also the people of these areas would get immense facility of parks and their long standing demand would be met.Mohali Municipal Corporation SE Sanjay Kanwar, Exian Rajbir Singh, MC Harjit Bholu, MC Kamalpreet Singh Bani, MC Sucha Singh Kalaur, Victor Niholka, Krishna Mittu, Cheri Sidhu, Kulwinder Singh Sanju, Navtej Bacchal, Pramod Mitra, Rajesh Lakhotra, Hardial Badbar, Kulwinder Singh etc. were present.
