The Civil Surgeon Dr. Manjit Singh today appealed to the patients suffering from the novel  Coronavirus pandemic to inculcate the spirit of “Chardi Kala”(high spirits) in themselves and keep their morale high in order to fight this deadly disease in a better and more effective way. He said, “In order to boost up the immunity level to recover from the disease which would ultimately reduce the mortality rate, it is very important for the patient to have a high mental and psychological level as most of the deaths are due to fear, anxiety and nervousness.”The civil surgeon along with other senior health officials while visiting a micro-containment zone at Sohana sector 78, spoke to the family members of patients at various houses and said that it is need of the hour that patients should be in high spirits (Chardi Kala) for which Punjabis are known the world over. While reviewing the arrangements in the Micro Containment Zone, Dr Manjit Singh said that the district administration and the health department have been making continuous and vigorous efforts to curb the spread of the disease and there is no dearth of facilities in the Covid Care Centres and government health institutions across the district yet the Mission Fateh launched by the Punjab government against this deadly disease can be achieved only with the active support of the people and together we can make our society disease free and healthy.

He also appealed to the recovered patients to convey the message to the patients through various means that there is no need to be scared or nervous about this disease but to fight it out vigorously. Praising the doctors, paramedical staff and other health workers who have been working day and night, he said that besides treating the patients, they should also teach them the lesson to stay happy and in good spirits so that the disease could be overcome without any problem. He appealed to the people to get tested immediately on the onset of even mild symptoms so that the disease could be detected in a timely manner and thus treated effectively.Dr Manjit Singh requested the people not step out of homes aimlessly and if there is an urgent need to move out, the face should be covered with masks, handkerchiefs, cloths etc. and necessary distance from each other should be maintained. It is also important to wash hands frequently with soap and water. He asked them to do online transactions to pay for water, electricity, insurance, mobile, cylinder refill and other bills, instead of going to the market and offices for the same. He said that people should visit hospitals in case of any serious problem only. Instead, they should contact the health department helpline 104 for the expert advice.District Health Officer Dr. Subhash Kumar , senior medical officer Dr. Kuljit Kaur, Rural Medical officer Dr. Sangeet Pal Kaur, Health Inspector Bhupinder Singh, Dinesh Chaudhary, Gurvinderjeet Singh, Gurbachan Singh were also present on the occasion.
