To review the progress of various health programs and schemes, Civil Surgeon Dr. Sangeeta Jain held a monthly meeting with the program officers and senior medical officers of the district here today. Emphasizing on the prevention of dengue, malaria, chikungunya and other diseases, the civil surgeon asked all the officials to make people more aware about the symptoms, causes, prevention and treatment of these diseases and step up house-to-house anti-dengue drive under the Har Shukarwar, Dengu te War" campaign.
She said that although the number of dengue cases in the district this time is very less as compared to previous years, but despite this, vigilance is very important as usually it is more prevalent from July to November. Notably, Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr. Balbir Singh had honored Dr. Jain for excellent performance in dengue prevention in the district during the Civil Surgeon Conference held recently.
Dr. Jain appreciated the entire staff for this honor and also motivated them to work with more diligence and dedication. Expressing satisfaction over the flow of patients in the 'Aam Aadmi Clinics' and the health facilities being provided there, the Civil Surgeon told the officials that the patients coming to these centers should not face any problem and they should be provided free of cost all the medicines, examination and treatment facilities.
She said that all the medicines prescribed by doctors should be given to the patients from the hospital pharmacy itself. No patient should be asked to buy medicines from private chemist shops. If there is a need to buy medicines from a private shop, it is the duty of the In-charge of the institute to buy such medicines for the patient.
Dr Jain said that as per the Punjab government scheme, patients should be given free medicines and all medicines under the standard list must be available at the Pharmacy in the hospital.
