A delegation of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) lead by its president Dr Suhail Naik on Friday met Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar in connection with the recent incidents of violence against doctors.After the meeting, President DAK, Dr Suhail Naik said integration and harmony between departments is very imperative to fight, mitigate and contain COVID-19 pandemic.Dr Naik thanked IGP for their love by way of distributing flowers and sweets to health care workers across the valley saying that such gestures should reflect on the roads.The DAK president, said that police department has to see itself as a major player in disaster management and it will continue to play as first responder role given to its proximity and relationship with the general public.Various issues regarding safety and security of doctors amid COVID crisis were discussed in a cordial way.Naik stated that the IGP assured doctors that concrete measures will be taken so that incidents of violence are not repeated in future and it is collective responsibility to fight against the coronavirus.DAK stated that if anywhere health staff feels obstruction or face inconvenience, they should call or seek help from the concerned senior superintendent of police.DAK said that IGP assured that health related ordinances passed by Government of India will be followed in letter and spirit by all the police stations and a reminder in  this regard will be issued to all immediately.The meeting was attended by General Secretary Medical Faculty Association SKIMS Soura Dr Sameer Nakash, Jammu and Kasmir Doctors Coordination Committee (JKDCC) chairman, Dr Yousuf Tak, Dr Arshid Trag  and executive member DAK, Dr Krishanjeet.Earlier, three doctors including Block Medical Officer (BMO) Bandipora and two doctors of SMHS Hospital were not allowed to move when they were on way to their duties.
