Deputy Commissioner Reasi Nidhi Malik today chaired a meeting with stakeholders, including officials from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to review the progress of work on Delhi-Amritsar-Katra (DAK) Expressway.

The meeting focused on resolving pending issues related to the portion of the expressway falling under in the District. The DC assured all stakeholders of full support in removing any hurdles to facilitate the swift completion of this important project.

The Deputy Commissioner also reviewed the follow-up actions from the previous meeting. NHAI representatives informed that several previously discussed issues have now been successfully resolved and work is progressing smoothly.

However, two issues, including land mutation issue and one land dispute case were discussed today. The DC assured that one of these matters would be resolved by the evening, while the others would be addressed within two days.

The Deputy Commissioner gave clear instructions to NHAI to take immediate and appropriate action regarding residential structures that have developed cracks due to land cutting and excavation activities related to the expressway construction.

She emphasized that it is NHAI's responsibility to ensure the safety and well-being of affected residents. Any damage or loss caused due to construction activities would be solely the responsibility of NHAI.

Safety must be the top priority. The DC instructed NHAI officials to promptly assess the extent of damage to affected houses and carry out the necessary repair work to restore their structural integrity.

She stressed that repairs must ensure the houses are made safe and fit for habitation. The meeting was attended by ACR Reasi Nitin Verma, Project Director Anuj Kumar, Site Engineer Abhishek Tagotra and Project Manager from AFCO.
