211 units of blood have been collected in blood donation camp organized by Indian Red Cross Society, SAS Nagar under the patronage of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Girish Dayalan, here at District Administrative complex today.The camp, dedicated to the 550thPrakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji was organized in collaboration with Vishwas Foundation and HDFC Bank and jointly inaugurated by Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mrs. Aashika Jain and Assistant Commissioner (General) Mr. Yashpal Sharma.Divulging details, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Mrs. Aashika Jain said that blood bank team from PGI, Chandigarh led by Dr. Anita and Dr. Nipun Prinja has collected blood of students from various colleges, officials and staff of the District Administrative Complex. She said that Pattern of Red Cross Mohali Mr. Harpreet Singh Rekhi donated blood for the 55th time. She said that total 308 donors have registered for blood donation and 97 donors were not able to donate blood on medical reasons.District Program Officer Mr. Sukhdeep Singh said that under the nutrition campaign, expected mothers were given 40 Planters and seeds for growing green vegetables so that they would get nutritious food easily under Poshan Scheme. Fruit baskets were provided to pregnant women besides sensitizing them about the schemes of the department, he said.On this occasion, Mr. Kamlesh Kumar Kaushal, Secretary, District Red Cross Society, Mrs. Rupinder Kaur, Assistant Director, Youth Services, Mr. Ravinder Singh Rahi, District Social Security Officer, Sadhvi Neelima Vishwas from Vishwas Foundation, Mr. Nitin Kumar from HDFC Bank and Mr. P.S. Virdi from Residents Welfare Association and others were present.
