A meeting of Himachal Pradesh Red Cross Hospital Welfare Section was held today under the chairpersonship of Dr. Sadhna Thakur. In the meeting, review of previous meeting was done and members of the society presented a report on the visits made to different hospitals with regard to activities of the Red Cross. Apart from this, details of expenditure of annual mela organised by the Red Cross was also presented in the meeting.Dr. Sadhna Thakur said on this occasion that all members should contact Medical Superintendent of IGMC regarding the medicines being provided to needy people through Red Cross so that the needy people could get right medicines. She said that maximum medicines should be provided to needy people through Jan Aushadhi Kendras.She urged all members to adopt one Government school in their area and work towards developing it into a model school with the help of Red Cross. Under this, students should be made aware of cleanliness, drug abuse, dental hygiene etc. She said that the repetitive visits should be made to the adopted schools and activities being run there should be recorded to develop them as model schools. 

Alongwith students in schools, counselling of their parents should also be done so that the children could be encouraged to pursue their interests.Dr. Sadhna urged the members of the society to visit schools and identify various issues there and make efforts to resolve them through Red Cross. If there is shortage of teachers in any school then efforts should be made to provide services of subject experts concerned in schools so that the education of students would not get affected. The students belonging to economically weaker sections should be identified in schools so that they could be provided assistance through Red Cross for completion of their education.She said that plantation of various medicinal plants has been carried out in medical colleges across the state for making them better in terms of environment. These included medical colleges in Ner Chowk, district Mandi, Hamirpur and in Tanda, district Kangra where about two hundred saplings were planted included of Panchwati saplings.Dr. Sadhna said that the Red Cross Melas being organised at district level should also be organised at Sub-Division and block levels so that these Melas could be brought to villages. She said that the Red Cross Mela being organised at district level in Mandi would be organised this year at Sundernagar Sub-Division. She also urged all the members of the society to add more members.Vice-Chairperson of State Red Cross Society Phiroza Vijay Singh, Honorary Secretary Poonam Chauhan, Secretary P.S. Rana and other members were also present on this occasion.
