Harvir Kaur, ETT student of Doaba College of Education, and Mr. Anmol, B Tech (CSE) student of Doaba Institute of Engineering & Technology, were crowned Ms and Mr. Fresher 2018, at the Doaba Group of Colleges fresher’s party. They were selected on the basis of their performance in the modeling and question rounds, their   personality, attitude, way of speaking, presence of mind and general awareness etc.S. Sadhu Singh Dharmsot, Cabinet Minister, Punjab (Minister for Forests, Printing and Stationary, Welfare of SC’s and BC’s), was the Chief Guest for the occasion. He was accompanied by distinguished administrator, S Amarjit Singh. The chief guest, in his address, congratulated the students on their successes, and motivated them to participate in co-curricular activities along with their academic pursuits. He also assured them that the government will ensure an early release of their scholarships.

The Chief Guest was welcomed by DGC chairman Mr. M S Batth, president Dr. H. S. Batth, managing vice chairman Mr. S S Sangha, executive vice chairman Mr. Manjit Singh, and DGC officers and trustees. DGC Executive Vice Chairman Mr. Manjit Singh, in his welcome address, highlighted the achievements of DGC in academics, sports, literary and cultural fields.The Fresher’s Party was celebrated with enthusiasm and all events were artistically and beautifully presented. The audience was kept enthralled for many hours by the mind blowing performances of dance, drama, skits, songs, etc. Gidha, Bhangra, and modeling competitions were the highlights of the programme.The function concluded with a prize distribution ceremony. Trophies and cash prizes were awarded to the students for their achievements in academics, sports, extracurricular and cultural activities. More than 2000 students, officers and faculty members of the DGC constituent colleges attended the event.
