H.S. Phoolka, Leader of Aam Aadmi Party and MLA, Dakha today said that 1,42 crores beneficiary of Atta Dal Scheme in the state have been robbed of by offering less Wheat than promised. Highlighting a scam in the distribution of wheat under the Atta Dal Scheme,  Mr. Phoolka said that people are being offered less than promised weight of 30 kgs per person twice a year. Mr. Phoolka highlighted how his team caught people red handed in an Warehouse at Mullanpur in Dakha constituency where an expert team were taking Wheat out of the bag and filling it with water to compensate the loss in weight of each bag. Mr. Phoolka informed Deputy Commissioner of Ludhiana at 9.00 PM, who along with DSP and Tehsildar, conducted raid on the premises and arrested eleven persons red handed.These arrested persons gave statement that they are expert in this job and are hired by different Food Inspectors to execute this job for them.Phoolka further added that there are 1.42 crore beneficiaries in the state. If each one gets 3 kgs Wheat less than promised, then total amount involved in an Year becomes approximately 127 crores.Mr. Phoolka demanded that the government should immediately act in a proactive way and ascertain the exact loss. The persons involved in the scam should be identified and legal action should be taken against them. It is highly probable that high ups are involved in this scam and might had link with 31000 crore food scam of Punjab. Also, facility of CCTV coverage and recording should be provided at each location.
