The Punjab Commission of Inquiry has asked the aggrieved persons to submit details of false cases and FIRs by 30th June which were registered against them under the decade-long SAD-BJP regime.Disclosing this a spokesman of state government said as per the terms of reference, the Commission would enquire into the cases where persons have been wrongly implicated in false cases/FIRs during last 10 years and submit its report to state government. "The aggrieved persons shall submit a proforma either in person or through his representative or registered post by mentioning details of such false cases including its present status, list of witnesses and details of other party who had lodged complaint", he added. He further informed that the Commission would also recommend measures to the government to be adopted to ensure that instances of false implications of people does not happen in future.

Mentionably, the Captain Amarinder Singh government had constituted this Inquiry Commission under the Commission of Inquiry Act, 1952 to review the false cases registered in Punjab by the former dispensing. The two-member Commission, headed by former Punjab and Haryana High Court judge Mehtab Singh Gill has former District and Sessions Judge B.S. Mehandiratta as member. The Commission’s tenure would be for an initial period of six months, which could be extended by the government when so required. It is pertinent to mention here that Captain Amarinder Singh had, during his election campaign, promised the electorates that his government would inquire into all such false cases to ensure justice for the innocent. He had also promised that all those found guilty of implicating innocent people in fake cases would be brought to book.
