Ludhiana , 19 May 2024

Last updated on: May 19, 2024, 00:00 IST

Punjab Congress president and party’s candidate from Ludhiana parliamentary constituency, Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today said that exactly 40 days from today, every poor family across the country including Punjab will get double free ration and Rs 8500 every month.

“Note down the date; July 4, 2024, when money will start getting deposited in your bank accounts directly”, he told multiple gatherings of people during a series of meetings held in the Ludhiana West assembly segment here today.

Accompanied by senior party leaders including former minister Brahm Mohindra and PCC working president Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Warring said, unlike the Bharatiya Janata Party or the Aam Aadmi Party, both of whom have mastered the art of lying, Congress guarantees are fulfilled in a time bound manner.

He announced that about 80 crore poor Indians, who include Punjabis also, from July 2024 onwards, after the INDIA government is formed at the centre, will start receiving ten kgs of free rice instead of five which they are getting today.

He clarified that while the government will be formed immediately after June 4, the Congress party has set a one month deadline for launching both the welfare schemes. Giving details, he said, under the ‘Mahalakshmi’ scheme, every poor family across the country will start receiving Rs 8500 every month.

The money, he said, will be deposited in the bank account of the eldest female member of the family.

The PCC president said, the Congress party has a proven record of fulfilling the guarantees immediately. He pointed out, in the states like Karnataka and Telangana, where the Congress formed the government last year, the welfare schemes were launched within a few months.

He said the welfare schemes promised in the ‘Nyay Patra’ will also be launched within the first month of the party assuming the reins of power.Accusing the BJP and the AAP of making false and fake promises only, he pointed out, Narendra Modi had promised to generate 2 crore jobs every year that would mean having generated 20 crore jobs by now.

But, he added, the reality is that the unemployment problem in the country is the worst in the last 45 years. He said, there are 70 crore unemployed in the country right now.  Similarly, he reminded the AAP about the Rs 1000 monthly cash assistance promise to women in Punjab.

He said, two and a half years have already passed and AAP has forgotten about the promises and remembers it only when it is reminded by the Congress. “Take it from me, they will not be able to pay it even after we start the central scheme”, he asserted.
