The Chandigarh –Punjab Union of Journalists  (CPUJ) has lauded the decision of new Punjab government for accepting  most of the union demands in  cabinet meeting today as promised by state Congress Committee  in its manifesto.President of the union Mr. Vinod Kohli  said here today that union was demanding  to exempt media persons from payment of toll tax  on state highways for the long time . Similarly it was also a major demand of the union to set up a  Press Accrediation Committee  comprising representatives from registered journalist unions with over ten years standing and review  the existing  rules for  allotment of government accommodation to journalists. Mr. Kohli while extending his heartful thanks to Chief Minister Amrinder Singh   hoped that government would also consider its other demands which include social security  and Pension Scheme for journalists on the pattern  of Kerala and Pudducherry.
