Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday while launching a scathing attack against the national conference over its recent remarks on Autonomy said the party itself is responsible for all the miseries the people witnessed during the past decades.NC while reacting to the dropping of the Autonomy resolution in the legislative assembly had stated that the resolution, if tabled, would have exposed the PDP.PDP’s Srinagar district president and MLC Mohammad Khurshid Alam while reacting to the NC’s statement accused the national conference of making the mockery of the democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir and undermining peoples’ rights since decades.Alam said NC, during its decades old rule, hasn’t ever raised any issue that could have mitigated peoples’ sufferings but treated the state as its own personal enterprise. “Till 2014, it was NC which was ruling the state. One wonders when did the party ever raise any issue pertaining to autonomy restoration on any public platform not to talk about bringing it on the floor of the house,” Alam said, adding that the six year NC’s rule from 2009 to 2014 was marred with anarchy, despotism, nepotism and corruption.
Alam said NC itself has now understood that its time is gone and that the people of the state have rejected it out-rightly, resulting in its worst ever rout since 1947. “It is high time for the national conference to contemplate the lesson that people of the state have taught it during the 2014 polls. Bringing mere resolutions and trying to politicise every issue wouldn’t help the party in any way. In actual, autonomy for NC means to remain in power, loot exchequer, and barter peoples’ resources. Reality is that the party is least concerned about the hardships faced by public,” PDP’s district president said.Hailing the efforts of the present regime including the launch of night flights from Srinagar airport and vacation of land in South Kashmir by army, Alam reiterated that peace and prosperity has always been PDP’s utmost priority.
