A deputation of Congress party councilors of Municipal Corporation Shimla met Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma here today and urged him to review the decision of enhancing sewerage cess being charged by the corporation. They said the corporation was earlier charging sewerage cess of 15 percent on water generation bills which now had been enhanced to 50 percent of the total water consumption. This had put heavy financial burden on the people of the town under the periphery of Corporation.

They said that Municipal Corporation had already passed a resolution in this effect where it had been decided that the sewerage cess should not be charged at 50 percent but the Corporation was still charging at the same rate.Sudhir Sharma said the government would consider this issue on priority basis and efforts would be made to find a solution to provide relief to the people of Shimla town. The deputation comprised of councillors Shri Surinder Chauhan, Shri Sushanr Kaprate, Shri Deepak Rohal, Shri Shashi Shekahr, Shri Narender Thakur, Shri Praveen Kumar and Shri Sanjay Parmar.
