Vyapam scam: CBI files five more FIRs

The CBI on Tuesday registered five fresh FIRs in connection with its ongoing probe into the recruitment and admission Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh.

The first First Information Report (FIR) was registered against three people on charges of cheating by impersonation in the Pre Medical Test (PMT) 2010.

The second FIR was registered against three people on the charges of cheating by impersonation in 2009 PMT examination held under Vyavsayik Pariksha Mandal (Vyapam), or the Madhya Pradesh Professional Examination Board (MPPEB).

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered the third case against two accused on the allegations of cheating by impersonation in PMT 2010 Examination and subsequently getting admission in a medical college at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh.The fourth case was registered against 10 people on allegations of cheating by impersonation in Police Constable Recruitment Test 2012 conducted on September 30, 2012.The fifth case was registered on allegations of cheating by impersonation against one accused in relation to PMT 2009 conducted by Vyapam.

The FIRs were registered on charges of cheating, criminal conspiracy, and under the Information Technology Act, Prevention of Corruption Act and the Madhya Pradesh Recognised Examination Act.The CBI has already registered 32 FIRs and launched 11 preliminary inquiries into the Vyapam scam.The Supreme Court on July 9 handed over the Vyapam cases to the central agency from July 13. Over 40 people linked with the scam have died under mysterious circumstances or committed suicide.
