Nestle India on Monday said the reports of food safety regulator FSSAI which termed its Maggi noodles "unsafe", have still not been received by the company."We are yet to receive the reports of tests done on Maggi samples by the FSSAI," Himanshu Manglik, head of corporate communications at Nestle India, told IANS during a media briefing here at one of Nestle India's distribution centres.Manglik said there was also no formal sharing of test reports done by the states, which have banned Maggi noodles.
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) ordered Nestle India to withdraw Maggi noodles after tests by labs on some samples were reportedly found to contain higher-than-permissible levels of lead -- a finding that was rejected by the company, which said its own independent tests suggested otherwise.The company has halted the production of Maggi noodles in India since June 5, when the product was decided to be recalled from the market.Nestle has since moved the Bombay High Court, challenging the order of the food regulator.The court has now issued notice to the FSSAI, and other respondents and posted the matter for hearing on June 30.
