More than 2000 participants from across the J&K State including 1050 participants from JK Cycling Association and 50 International, National players from other States of the Country have expressed their interest to participate in the cycling event being held on May 31. Four participants who have recently attended Common Wealth Games are also participating in this event.This was disclosed by Additional Director General of Police (Armed) J&K, Mr. S.M. Sahai at a Press Conference held here today. He said that participants from other States including Punjab, Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, Bihar, Karnataka, Cycling Federation of India, National Campers of Cycling Federation of India.

Mr. Sahai said that aim of organizing such sporting event is to promote sports culture in the state and identify the talented sports persons besides providing opportunity to the youths of the state to enable them to prepare themselves in National/ International level sporting events. By carrying out such activities J&K Police wishes to create a healthy society and conducive environment in the State.The Director General of Police, Mr. K. Rajendra shall flag-off the event at 6.30 am on May 31, 2015 (Sunday) at Police Golf course Boulevard Road. Prize distribution ceremony shall take place at 8.30  a.m. at the same venue. Minister for PWD (R&B), Jenab Altaf Ahmed Bukhari will be the chief guest on the occasion.Adequate arrangements have been made at the Venue and enroute with sufficient number of water sponges, table, medical aid and ambulances. The rules & regulations for the event shall be as per the guidelines of Cycling Federation of India. Open registration shall be held at Golf Course from 29th May-2015 onwards.
