Minister of State for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Ajaz Ahmad Khan today informed the House that two tehsils have been affected due to hailstorm in Kulgam and D.H. Pora and as per the reports 4288 families have been affected involving a total area of 1614 hectares. He said the total loss assessed is to the tune of Rs. 86.70 lakhs and the reports from other districts is awaited. The matter, he said, shall be placed before the State Executive Committee for sanctioning of the claims so that the farmers are paid compensation as per the SDRF norms, he added.The Minister was replying to a Calling Attention Notice by Mr. M. Y. Tarigami in the Legislative Assembly. He said it was reported that due to the hail storm on 15.09.2013 there were some damages to the crops in District of Kupwara and Kulgam. The Deputy Commissioners were asked by the pisional Commissioner, Kashmir on 18th September 2013 to carry out assessment of losses to the crops. The Deputy Commissioner Kulgam has already furnished the details with regard to losses to the crops and the details from District Kupwara are still awaited, he added.
