Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh directed the Public Works Department to carry repair and maintenance of roads on war footing in the State. He said that the prolonged monsoon and heavy rains caused and extensive damages to the roads and now as the monsoon had come to an end, the maintenance and repair of roads should be taken on priority.Shri Virbhadra Singh was presiding over a meeting of district level officers at Nahan Circuit House today morning. He said that connecting every village with motorable road was priority of his Government and PWD authorities should formulate schemes to connect left out villages with road facility. 

He also disclosed that approval had been given to purchase 1000 new buses and 500 buses would be added to the fleet of HRTC in the first stage to facilitate the commuters in the State.Chief Minister directed the Superintending Engineer, PWD to conduct inspection of Kumarhatti-Nahan road and complete the repair and maintenance work by March, 2014. He also directed for inspection of Sarahan-Nahan road so that it could be properly maintained.He said that the drinking water supply scheme of Nahan town would be augmented and a new scheme had also been sent for approval to Government of India for lifting drinking water from Giri river. He said that a suitable place would be identified for construction of new college building at Nahan.

He said that Police Station of Kala Amb would be shifted to the building of Animal Husbandry. He also announced to provide Rs. 20 lakh for the renovation of Nahan bus stand. Shri Virbhadra Singh ordered inquiry into the felling of green trees in Ghanduri and Paonta Sahib areas of the district. He also directed to issue warning to the contractors who were not properly executing the developmental works adding that their work orders should be cancelled if they failed to execute the works within stipulated period.Transport, Food and civil Supplies Minister Shri G.S Bai was also present on the occasion.Earlier, Chief Minister also inspected the Nahan Hospital.While addressing a public meeting at Bara Chowk in Nahan on Tuesday late evening accused previous BJP Government for working with political vendetta. He said that BJP Government misused the government machinery for phone tapping which was being enquired and stern action would be taken against those found guilty. He said that Congress Government was enquiring various cases on the basis of its charge sheet without any ill-will and any action would be initiated only after conducting inquiry. Chief Parliamentary Secretary Shri Vinay Kumar, Deputy Chairman, Planning Board Shri G.R. Musafir, Chairman, HIMFED Shri Ajay Bahadur Singh, former MLAs Shri Harshwardhan Singh Chauhan and Shri Kush Parmar, President, District Congress Committee, Shri Ajay Solanki and General Secretary Shri Anup Thakur also spoke on the occasion.
