Thousands of families residing in the 142-acre mega housing project in Sector-125 of New Sunny Enclave, Kharar, have been facing an acute water crisis for the past several days. Residents living in independent houses, duplexes, villas, and apartments are struggling for every drop of water. From drinking water to cooking and meeting the daily needs of children and senior citizens, the situation has become extremely difficult.
Left with no alternative, residents are spending thousands of rupees every day to procure water through private tankers. These concerns were raised by Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab State Media Head Vineet Joshi after visiting the area on the invitation of the New Sunny Enclave Resident Welfare Association.
He said that the water supply for this large residential township depends entirely on just two tubewells. One of these tubewells has remained non-functional for nearly ten days due to a motor breakdown, severely disrupting water supply across the locality.
RWA President Sardar Pavittar Pal Singh, along with Ram Krishna Kataria, Kamalkant Sharma, Joginder Pal Sharma, Sardar Harmel Singh, Captain Inderjit Singh, Sardar Major Singh Nambardar, and retired XEN Swaran Singh, took Joshi to inspect the faulty tubewell and apprised him of the hardships being faced by the affected residents.
Vineet Joshi said it is unfortunate that people who have invested their hard-earned savings to legally purchase plots and flats, constructed homes, and regularly pay all taxes are now being forced to struggle for something as basic as water. He alleged that even after more than four years in office, the Aam Aadmi Party government has failed to ensure an adequate supply of drinking water to the residents of this area.
He urged the administration to immediately restore the damaged tubewell, arrange sufficient alternative water supply, and implement a permanent solution for the entire township so that residents are no longer forced to suffer for such a fundamental necessity in their own homes.
