To further strengthen sanitation arrangements and improve civic services in the South Assembly Constituency, MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar held a comprehensive review meeting with Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill. The meeting focused on strengthening the waste collection system across all wards, desilting of drains, improving sanitation services and enhancing the overall delivery of civic amenities.

During the meeting, the Municipal Corporation Commissioner assured that the Municipal Corporation Amritsar (MCA) is fully committed to providing quality civic amenities to the residents of the South Assembly Constituency. He stated that every possible effort would be made to further improve sanitation standards and public services in the area.

Councillors from various wards of the constituency participated in the meeting and apprised the officials of local issues relating to waste collection, drain cleaning, sanitation arrangements and door-to-door garbage collection. MCA officials made ward-wise presentations detailing the deployment of sanitation staff, vehicles and the daily waste collection mechanism.

It was decided that regular lifting of garbage from all wards would be ensured and feedback-cum-review meetings would be held every ten days to monitor the progress of sanitation services. Councillors were also requested to create awareness among organisers of community langars and other public gatherings regarding proper waste management and disposal.

Officials informed that wherever drainage chambers are being cleaned, the excavated debris should also be removed immediately to avoid inconvenience to the public. To further strengthen the waste collection system, the Municipal Corporation has recommended the deployment of 15 additional mini-tippers in the South Assembly Constituency.

The Corporation reiterated that the door-to-door waste collection system will remain the primary mechanism for garbage collection and that no public roadside garbage bins will be installed. In narrow lanes and areas inaccessible to larger vehicles, waste is being collected through rickshaws and other suitable means to ensure that the service reaches every household.

The Municipal Corporation Commissioner also clarified that if the concessionaire company fails to collect waste from all households within its allotted area, deductions from its payments will be made strictly in accordance with the terms and conditions of the agreement. Appreciating the efforts being made by the Municipal Corporation, MLA Dr. Inderbir Singh Nijjar said that better coordination among elected representatives, sanitation workers and the concessionaire company is essential for maintaining cleanliness in the constituency.

He urged all stakeholders to work collectively to ensure timely and efficient delivery of civic services to the public. Municipal Corporation Commissioner Bikramjit Singh Shergill said that the Municipal Corporation Amritsar is continuously working to strengthen the city's solid waste management system and is closely monitoring door-to-door waste collection to ensure better sanitation standards. He reiterated that the Corporation will continue to take all necessary steps for the convenience and welfare of the citizens.

The meeting was attended by MOH Dr. Yogesh Arora, Chief Sanitary Officer J.P. Babbar, CSI Raman, the concerned Sanitary Inspectors, Company Manager of RRR WasteTech Private Limited Rajiv Arora, and other officials of the Municipal Corporation.
