Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer Komal Mittal today visited polling booths at Balongi, Paragon School, Sector 71, and Millennium School, Phase 5, Mohali, to inspect the ongoing voter pre-mapping exercise being undertaken in preparation for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR)-2026, scheduled to commence from June 25, 2026.
During her visit, the Deputy Commissioner interacted with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and voters present at the booths and reviewed the progress of the exercise in detail. She emphasized the importance of accurate voter data in ensuring a transparent, inclusive and error-free electoral roll. She appealed to all eligible voters to actively cooperate with election officials during the revision process.
Joint Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab, Gurinderjit Singh Sodhi, accompanied by Assistant Chief Electoral Officer Sanjay Kumar, also visited Christians Public School, Kharar, Balongi and Millennium School, Phase 5, to assess the progress of the ongoing voter pre-mapping exercise. Speaking on the occasion, Komal Mittal said that the formal Special Intensive Revision programme will be conducted from June 25 to July 24, 2026.
During this period, Booth Level Officers will undertake a door-to-door verification drive and facilitate the filling of Enumeration Forms by voters after mapping their existing details with the Electoral Roll of 2003. She informed that SAS Nagar district has a total of 838 polling booths, where an equal number of Booth Level Officers have been deployed under the supervision of 83 Sector Officers.
These officials have been assigned the task of mapping the details of 8,54,381 registered voters in the district. The Deputy Commissioner further stated that significant progress has already been achieved under the pre-mapping exercise.
Out of the total electorate, details of 5,70,722 voters, accounting for 66.76 percent, have already been mapped. Joint CEO Gurinderjit Singh Sodhi said that as part of the pre-SIR exercise, special camps have been organized simultaneously at 24,453 polling booths across Punjab to facilitate voters in mapping their details with the Electoral Roll of 2003.
He added that voters can also access the Voter Service Portal at voters.eci.gov.in to search and verify their details available in the 2003 electoral records. He said that the exercise aims to enhance the accuracy and integrity of the electoral roll by ensuring inclusion of all eligible voters while identifying and removing ineligible entries in accordance with the prescribed norms.
The election authorities reiterated their appeal to all voters to extend full cooperation to the field staff and actively participate in the Special Intensive Revision process to help maintain a clean, updated and reliable electoral roll.
