Jammu and Kashmir Governor N.N. Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Thursday donated their one month's salary to the state government's flood relief fund.While thanking Vohra for his donation of a month's salary to the chief minister's relief fund, Abdullah also announced similar donation of Rs.one lakh from his salary to the fund.The chief minister, who visited the flood affected areas of Srinagar Wednesday, made an aerial survey of the affected areas which could not be reached by road Thursday.He reviewed the latest flood situation in the Kashmir Valley at a meeting here. 

Abdullah appealed to the MPs from the state and legislators to donate as much as they can for the flood affected families. He said MPs and legislators can also earmark funds out of their Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS) and CDF for restoration of the flood-hit areas. He requested them to make philanthropic initiative.The chief minister also appealed to the government employees and business community to donate for the relief and rehabilitation of the flood affected families by depositing money in the Chief Minister's Flood Relief Fund, account no. 0110040100001275 (IFSC - JAKAO) of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Ltd.Abdullah laid thrust on intensifying dewatering the submerged areas in Srinagar city. He also approved procurement of high density and heavy discharging dewatering pumps for the purpose. Each of these pumps is capable of dewatering 18,000 to 20,000 litres of water per minute.
