Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini said that the Women’s Reservation Act represents the vision of a New India, where the dreams of the nation’s daughters will be fulfilled. He said that through this Act, women are being brought into the mainstream of decision-making by providing 33 percent reservation in Parliament and State Assemblies.

This law not only ensures participation but also gives women a leadership role in policy-making.On Monday, the Chief Minister was virtually attending the Nari Shakti Vandan Act programme of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi during the two-day State-level Baisakhi Festival organized by the Department of Art and Cultural Affairs and the district administration.

He said that Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi launched the “Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao” campaign in 2015 from Panipat, Haryana. As a result, the sex ratio in Haryana has improved from 871 to 923. When policy and intent are right, positive changes are reflected in society.

The Chief Minister said that this Act is not just a law, but a symbol of the unwavering faith of our mothers and sisters. Today, daughters of Haryana are bringing glory to the nation in every field—be it sports, education, or defence. Carrying forward the Prime Minister’s resolve for women’s empowerment, the State Government is continuously working to provide a safe environment, better education, and equal opportunities for women.

He further said that the Prime Minister has taken several historic steps for the upliftment of women. The Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana was also launched by him on January 22, 2015, from the historic land of Panipat. Under this scheme, over 42 million Sukanya Samriddhi accounts have been opened across the country, including 9,56,000 in Haryana.

Women officers have been granted permanent commission in defence services, and girls have been allowed admission to Sainik Schools. He added that for women’s empowerment, the State Government has implemented several schemes such as Lakhpati Didi and Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana. Around 10 crore women across the country have been organized into more than 90 lakh Self-Help Groups.

In Haryana, over 6,30,000 women have been linked with more than 63,000 Self-Help Groups. The State Government has also launched the Deendayal Lado Lakshmi Scheme to provide financial and social security to women, under which financial assistance of Rs 2,100 is provided. So far, Rs. 1,038 crore has been distributed to 9,68,000 beneficiaries. On this occasion, former minister Sh. Subhash Sudha, Swami Gyananand Maharaj, and other dignitaries were present.
