A press conference on the Union Budget 2026–27 was organized at the Bharatiya Janata Party State Office “Kamlam”. The press conference was addressed by BJP State President Jitender Pal Malhotra and former State President and currently Co-Incharge of Himachal Pradesh, Sanjay Tandon.

Both leaders described the Union Budget as visionary, development-oriented, and a strong foundation for making India a developed nation by 2047. State President Jitender Pal Malhotra said that the Union Budget 2026–27 clearly reflects that India is economically strong today and continuously progressing on the path of growth.

He stated that while maintaining fiscal discipline, the government has limited the fiscal deficit to around 4.5 percent of GDP, which is steadily declining. This shows that the government is avoiding unnecessary expenditure and is not burdening future generations with debt.

He said that this increases the confidence of domestic and international investors, reduces the risk of inflation, and enables sustainable development without economic pressure. Investment will increase and the economy will become more stable.

Calling infrastructure the real driving force of development, he said that the central government has made a historic increase in capital expenditure. Including the states, a total investment provision of ₹17.1 lakh crore has been made, covering railways, roads, logistics corridors, power sector, urban development, and North–South and East–West connectivity.

He informed that seven high-speed rail corridors will be developed across the country, including the Delhi–Varanasi High-Speed Rail Corridor. This will reduce travel time, promote tourism and trade, lower logistics costs, and strengthen balanced regional development.

He added that improved connectivity will make goods cheaper, increase private investment, and give new momentum to GDP growth. Sanjay Tandon said that considering technology as the backbone of the future, special priority has been given to AI, data, semiconductors, quantum computing, and cloud technology in the Budget.

The decision to provide tax exemptions till 2047 for companies investing in data centers is historic. A budget of ₹74,560 crore has been allocated for the IT and telecom sectors, which will increase foreign investment and create high-paying jobs for youth.

Sanjay Tandon said that women-led development has been given special importance in the Budget. “She Marts” will be established for women self-help groups, enabling women to run their own businesses and retain profits directly.

This will increase women employment, boost consumption in rural areas, and strengthen household savings and investment. Hostel facilities for girls will also be provided in every district. Sanjay Tandon said that the allocation of ₹1.39 lakh crore for education and nearly ₹6 lakh crore for the defence sector will strengthen national security and human resources.

Indigenous manufacturing and research in the defence sector will be promoted, reducing imports and increasing exports. This will generate high-skill jobs and bring foreign exchange into the country.

Sanjay Tandon said that a budget of ₹1.04 lakh crore for the health sector has brought relief to the common people. Customs duty has been abolished on 17 medicines used in cancer treatment, making them 20 to 30 percent cheaper.

Five hubs will be developed to promote medical tourism, along with the establishment of new Ayurveda institutes and international-standard laboratories. Sanjay Tandon said that an agriculture budget of ₹1.62 lakh crore will lead farmers towards sustainable income.

Promoting coconut cultivation will strengthen the rural economy, increase agricultural processing, and reduce migration. Sanjay Tandon said that MSMEs are the backbone of employment in the country. With ₹10,000 crore for the SME Growth Fund and ₹2,000 crore for the Atmanirbhar Bharat Fund, small entrepreneurs will benefit from easy credit, timely payments, and online government procurement.

This will positively impact employment for around 11 crore people, development of small towns, and expansion of the tax base. In conclusion, both leaders said that the Union Budget 2026–27 is a budget that realizes the resolve of inclusive development, economic strength, and a self-reliant India.
