The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) delegation today asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to fulfill his responsibility towards Punjabis by putting an end to the culture of dacoities, extortions and targeted killings or step aside.A party delegation led by Dr Daljit Singh Cheema visited the residence of former Advocate General Krishan Kumar Goyal to express its condolences with the bereaved family as well as ascertain the circumstance under which the latter’s wife was murdered on December 29.

Briefing newsmen on the occasion, Dr Daljit Cheema said it was shocking that the delegation was told by the bereaved family that there was an atmosphere of fear in the city with incidents of robberies, dacoties and murders on the increase. “Senior citizens of the ward present on the occasion told us that people are even hesitating to visit the neihbourhood parks due to the complete collapse of the law and order situation”.

Dr Cheema said the residents were also anguished that no minister or senior official had reached out to the family to commiserate with them or ask about the circumstances of the murder. “This situation is a stark example of the government's apathy and the eroding trust of the people in the government and administration”.

Senior leaders who were part of the SAD delegation included Arshdeep Singh Kler, Bibi Kuldeep Kaur Kang, and S Kanwaljit Singh Ruby. They assured the SAD was ready to assist them in case of any need. EOM
