Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State President Dr. Rajeev Bindal, while addressing a press conference in Una, stated that the present Congress government in Himachal Pradesh will complete three years in office on December 11. According to information received through the media, the Congress party and the state government are preparing to celebrate this occasion in Mandi.
Dr. Bindal asserted that these three years are not worthy of celebration but instead represent three years of complete administrative collapse. During this period, all public systems in Himachal Pradesh have deteriorated drastically.
He said that these have been three years of collapse of law and order, during which incidents of theft, robbery, extortion, dacoity and firing have become common. The people of Una are themselves eyewitnesses to these incidents.
However, the problem is not limited to Una alone; from Chamba to Sirmaur and from Kangra to Kinnaur, incidents of gunfire and crime have become routine. The government has completely failed in maintaining law and order.
Dr. Bindal said that these have also been three years of massive debt burden. The government has taken huge loans but failed to utilize this money for the welfare of the people.
These three years have proven to be a cruel joke on the unemployed youth of the state. Instead of providing jobs, the government has abolished nearly 1.5 lakh government posts, committing grave injustice to the youth who were aspiring for employment.
He further stated that this period also marks three years of decline in the education system. New orders are being issued frequently without proper planning. English medium education was introduced from Class 1 to Class 5 without adequate training for teachers.
As a result, students reach higher classes without proper foundation. The credibility of the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education has weakened, leading to the conversion of some schools to the CBSE system and the closure of about 2,000 schools.
The entire teachers’ system has been disturbed and weakened. Dr. Bindal also termed these three years of deterioration in healthcare services. Earlier, poor people were receiving treatment through Himcare and Ayushman Bharat schemes, but today they are forced to wander from pillar to post for treatment.
Himcare stands practically shut, Ayushman benefits are stalled, medicines are unavailable in hospitals, and the healthcare system is in total disorder. He alleged that these three years have also been marked by nepotism, favoritism and the rise of a “friends’ government” or mafia rule.
Transparency in governance has been destroyed. Dr. Bindal expressed serious concern that while Mandi is still reeling under the wounds of natural disaster and thousands of people are forced to live in schools, dharamshalas, and relatives’ houses instead of their own homes, the Congress government is preparing to celebrate its anniversary there.
He said this is not a celebration but a celebration of destruction and failure. Dr. Bindal announced that in protest against this complete breakdown of governance and betrayal of public trust, the Bharatiya Janata Party will organize a massive state-level protest on December 4 at Jorawar Stadium, Dharamshala.
Through this protest, the BJP will show the government the mirror of its failures. He reminded that this is the same government which came to power on the basis of false guarantees—including ₹1500 per month to 28 lakh women, assured permanent jobs up to the age of 58, and major decisions in the very first cabinet meeting.
Today, all these promises have turned out to be hollow. Under various names like “Mitras” (Rogi Mitra, Van Mitra, etc.), youth are being exploited on meagre honorariums, which is a clear injustice to them.
Dr. Bindal said that the Chief Minister has been repeatedly accusing the BJP of factionalism, whereas the truth is that the Congress government has been chanting BJP’s name for the last three years only to divert attention from its own failures. He challenged the Chief Minister that if he truly believes BJP is divided, he should call for elections immediately—the people will clearly show where Congress stands and where the BJP stands.
He further said that it is the responsibility of the government to ensure efficient disaster management, timely payment of salaries and pensions, maintenance of law and order, and strict control over drug trafficking and criminal activities. Unfortunately, the present Congress government has completely failed to fulfil these responsibilities and is running away from its duties.
Dr. Bindal concluded by stating that the people of Himachal Pradesh are fed up with this government. Such a disappointing government has neither been seen in the past nor will likely be seen in the future. He appealed to the people of the state to join the massive protest on December 4 in Dharamshala in large numbers to raise their voice against the anti-people policies and failures of the Congress government.
