Dr Bilal Mohi Ud Din Bhat Flags-Off Cycle, Bike, Marathon Rallies to Celebrate 150 Years of “Vande Mataram”

As part of the ongoing celebrations marking 150 years of the iconic patriotic song “Vande Mataram”, the District Administration Budgam today organized a series of vibrant and spirited Cycle Rallies, Bike Rallies, and a Marathon Run, spreading the message of unity, patriotism, and national pride across the district.

The rallies were flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, Dr. Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, from the Sports Stadium Budgam. Besides ADC Mehraj -ud-din shah , CPO Budgam , DIO Budgam and other senior officers were present.

The rallies culminated at the Railway Station Budgam, symbolizing the onward journey of India’s progress, inspired by the timeless spirit of “Vande Mataram.” The atmosphere was charged with patriotic enthusiasm as loud chants of “Vande Mataram” reverberated through the air. 

Patriotic music and slogans celebrating India’s unity in diversity inspired participants and onlookers alike, creating a wave of collective energy and devotion to the motherland. Speaking on the occasion, DC Budgam highlighted the historical and emotional significance of “Vande Mataram”, composed by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay.

He said that the song inspired generations of freedom fighters and continues to ignite the spirit of devotion towards the nation. The DC Budgam emphasised that the initiative was aimed at connecting youth and citizens with India’s rich patriotic and cultural legacy, while also promoting values of fitness, discipline, and community participation. 

He appreciated the enthusiastic participation from students, volunteers, and citizens across Budgam who joined the celebration with great zeal. The event witnessed mass participation from school and college students, members of youth clubs, NSS volunteers, and officials from police and civil administration, turning the entire stretch from Sports Stadium to Railway Station Budgam into a moving celebration of tricolour and song.

The rallies organised by District Administration is a step in the year-long series of activities planned by the District Administration Budgam to commemorate the 150th year of “Vande Mataram”, reaffirming the district administration’s commitment to the ideals of unity, patriotism, and national harmony.
