A two-day District Level Kala Utsav 2025 for the Secondary and Higher Secondary students (including Children with Special Needs) commenced today at PM Shri Boys High School Purani Poonch bringing together young talent from across the district.

The event scheduled from September 24, 2025 to September 25, 2025 was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Ashok Kumar Sharma in presence of Chief Education Officer Mukhtar Ahmed Manhas.

On the inaugural day, students from all 11 zones of the district participated enthusiastically in four categories Vocal Music (Group), Vocal Music (Solo), Theatre (Group) and Traditional Storytelling (Group).

The vibrant performances reflected the rich cultural heritage of the region and showcased the creativity of the budding artists. Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest highlighted the importance of nurturing artistic expression alongside academics.

He emphasized the need for upliftment of students’ creativity and urged teachers to align themselves with the spirit of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 which focuses on holistic and multidisciplinary development of learners.

The CEO urged teachers to encourage students of their respective schools to actively participate in such activities. He further stressed that teachers must prepare themselves in true letter and spirit to ensure the holistic development of the students of district Poonch.

District Nodal Officer (DNO) Yougal Kishore Sharma said that due to bad weather conditions during the last month when schools remained closed students were prepared for the Kala Utsav on very short notice.

Earlier, Farooq Ahmed (Master) extended a warm welcome to the Chief Guests, Principals of various schools, jury members, escort teachers and participating students. The event was successfully organized with the wholehearted support of Headmaster Mohammad Bashir along with the staff and students of the host school.

The proceedings of the day were conducted efficiently by Ajaz Ahmed, Teacher MS Kojra, adding to the smooth flow of the program. The program aims to provide a platform for students of classes 9th to 12th to exhibit their artistic potential and prepare for higher-level competitions. The second day of the event will feature more categories, concluding with prize distribution.
