Haryana Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini has taken stringent action against serious irregularities in the tendering process of the Basai Water Treatment Project in Gurugram. He has ordered that the Chief Engineer responsible for negligence in this matter be charge-sheeted.
The Chief Minister categorically stated that rules were deliberately ignored during the tender process of this project, causing financial losses to the state government. This lapse also led to unnecessary delays in implementation, depriving the public of timely benefits.
Issuing these directives during the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) and High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) meetings held under his chairmanship here today, Sh. Nayab Singh Saini directed the officers to initiate strict action as per rules against the official concerned in the tender process, making it clear that such negligence and irregularities will not be tolerated in the future.
He reiterated that the state government follows a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and irregularities. Any act against public interest will not be tolerated under any circumstances, he said.The Chief Minister emphasized that the government’s priority is to provide transparent and accountable governance.
Any compromise on honesty, quality, and timely execution in development projects will not be accepted. Cabinet Ministers Sh. Vipul Goel, Sh. Shyam Singh Rana, Sh. Ranbir Gangwa, and Minister of State Sh. Rajesh Nagar also attended the meeting.
*Contracts and Purchases worth Rs. 851 crores approved in HPPC and HPHC Meeting*
In the High-Powered Purchase Committee (HPPC) and High-Powered Works Purchase Committee (HPWPC) meeting, contracts and procurement proposals amounting to nearly Rs. 851 crore were approved. Through negotiations with bidders, savings of approximately Rs. 28 crore were achieved.
The committees also sanctioned works worth Rs. 133 crore for repairing transformers of 16, 20, 25, 63, and 100 KVA capacity in UHBVN and DHBVN. In addition, approval was granted for the annual rate contract to procure 18,353 black polythene covers required by the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, HAFED, and HSWC.
*Road Strengthening Projects of over Rs. 178 crore approved*
The committees cleared projects worth more than Rs. 178 crore for strengthening and widening several key roads. These include the four-laning and strengthening of the Hansi–Tosham road (SH-12) at a cost of Rs. 14.13 crore, special repair and widening of the Tosham–Bhiwani road, strengthening of the Rohtak–Kharkhoda–Delhi border road, strengthening of the Rewari–Dadri road (via Berli Kalan to Kosli in Rewari district), strengthening of the Gohana–Lakhan Majra–Meham–Bhiwani road, and the Suraewala Chowk–Uklana road stretch in Fatehabad district. Together, these works will cost about Rs. 103.23 crore.
Similarly, road projects in Kaithal district were also sanctioned, including strengthening of the Kunjpura–Karnal–Kaithal–Khannauri road (SH-8), special repairs of the Karnal–Kaithal road, strengthening of Kond–Munak–Salwan–Assandh road, and strengthening a section of Karnal–Ramba–Indri–Ladwa road with interlocking paver blocks. These works will involve an expenditure of about Rs. 75.49 crore.The meeting also approved remodeling of the Rana Distributary from RD-74250 to RD-109250 at a cost of Rs. 14 crore, along with procurement of 132/11 KVA transformers worth Rs. 15.47 crore.
Additional Chief Secretary, Energy Department, Sh. A.K. Singh, Additional Chief Secretary, Public Works (Buildings & Roads) Department, Sh. Anurag Agarwal, Commissioner and Secretary-I, Finance Department, Sh. Mohammed Shayin, Director General, Supplies and Disposal, Sh. Pankaj and Administrative Secretaries of the concerned departments also attended the meeting.
