Haryana Chief Minister, Sh Nayab Singh Saini today visited the waterlogged areas near Naggal village in Ambala district. While travelling from Chandigarh to Kaithal, the Chief Minister stopped near Naggal/Hasanpur to review the situation and interacted with affected farmers.

Former Minister of State, Aseem Goyal Nannyaula, BJP District President, Mandeep Rana, Deputy Commissioner, Ajay Singh Tomar, and Superintendent of Police, Ajit Singh Shekhawat, accompanied the Chief Minister during the visit.

Aseem Goyal apprised the Chief Minister that the water level had risen significantly due to the inflow of Tangri river water and rainwater into Naggal Nallah (drain), resulting in waterlogging in nearly 40 villages. The Deputy Commissioner informed that approximately 28,000 acres of land in Ambala City tehsil has been affected.

The former Minister of State suggested that the construction of a siphon could largely resolve the issue of waterlogging in the area. The Chief Minister directed the Deputy Commissioner to prepare a comprehensive action plan for this work, and, if feasible, to also draft a framework for constructing a drain so that a permanent solution to the drainage problem could be ensured and such situations are prevented in the future.

The Chief Minister also met with affected farmers, including Bharatiya Kisan Union official Mr. Jai Singh Jalbeda, and inquired about the damage to their crops. He directed officials to operate the motors near the dirty drain at Addomajra Dam to ensure quick drainage of rainwater.

On this occasion, the Superintendent Engineer of the Irrigation Department briefed the Chief Minister, stating that rainwater was being drained naturally due to the land’s gradient. He added that additional motors were being installed to accelerate the process.

He further explained that as soon as the water level of Tangri river decreases, the water of Naggal/dirty drain will be taken out by operting the pumps. Later, the Chief Minister also halted near Segti village at Jansui Head to review the waterlogging situation there and interacted with the affected farmers and villagers.

He informed them that the government had opened e-Khshatipurti portal, where farmers can register their losses. Compensation would be provided in accordance with the prescribed rules. On this occasion, district administration officials and other dignitaries were also present.
