Under the leadership of Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is carrying forward the “War Against Drugs” campaign on a mission mode to make the state drug-free. Acting on the directions of SSP, Mr. Sartaj Singh Chahal, a joint team of police and civil administration, led by SP (D) Mr. Davinder Attari, demolished an illegal house constructed by drug smugglers at Ram Nagar Basti on Ubhawal Road.

SP (D) Mr. Davinder Attari informed that seven NDPS Act cases have been registered against accused Jeet Singh alias Surjit Singh, a resident of Ram Nagar Basti, Sangrur, while five NDPS Act cases are also registered against his wife, Shindo. He further said that the Punjab Government has adopted a strict zero-tolerance policy towards drugs, and tough action is being taken against drug traffickers.

The government is also fully committed to supporting those youths who want to give up drugs and live a better life. In this regard, government-run drug de-addiction and rehabilitation centers are functional across the district.

Issuing a stern warning to drug traffickers, Mr. Attari said that those indulging in drug smuggling must immediately quit their illegal trade, otherwise similar strict action will be taken against them. He reiterated that the Punjab Government is determined to save the state’s younger generation and that the “War Against Drugs” campaign will continue relentlessly until the drug trade is completely eradicated.

On this occasion, DSP Sukhdev Singh, DSP Karnail Singh, along with officers from various departments and a large number of police personnel, were also present.
