The District Administration Rajouri, in collaboration with the Department of AYUSH, today celebrated the 11th International Day of Yoga with great enthusiasm and public participation at the Sports Stadium Kheora.

The event witnessed a turnout of over 1000 participants who enthusiastically performed various yoga asanas under expert guidance. The theme for this year's celebration, ‘Yoga for One Earth, One Health’, aptly highlighted the importance of unity, compassion and holistic well-being.

A live streaming of the address by the Prime Minister was also broadcast at the venue, setting the tone for the day. Expert yoga instructors from the Directorate of AYUSH, J&K, conducted the yoga session and guided the participants through a series of asanas and breathing exercises aimed at enhancing physical and mental well-being.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Sharma underscored the significance of incorporating yoga into daily life. He said that regular practice of yoga not only strengthens the body but also brings harmony between the mind and soul, promoting overall wellness.

Similar yoga events were simultaneously organized across all sub-divisions of the district, including special sessions in vibrant villages near the Line of Control (LOC) and at picturesque Amrit Sarovars, ensuring widespread public involvement and outreach.

The event saw the presence of DIG Rajouri-Poonch Range, Tejinder Singh, SSP Rajouri, Gaurav Sikarwar, Principal Government Medical College Rajouri, senior officers from district and sectoral departments, civil society members, students and a large number of women participants.

The event was coordinated under the supervision of Dr. Rakesh Kumar Shan, District AYUSH Officer Rajouri and Dr. Raj Kumar Bajaj, Nodal Officer for the event. The programme concluded with the serving of refreshments to all the participants, marking the end of a successful and rejuvenating celebration of International Yoga Day in the district.
