Patiala Foundation held the concluding ceremony of Project SHG Online, an initiative launched in November 2024 in collaboration with OMED e.V., a Germany-based NGO. The project was uniquely designed to empower women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) by providing them with access to essential digital technology tools, financial literacy, and a secure online environment for communication and collaboration.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, CEO of Patiala Foundation, said that the program successfully trained 30 women from 10 different SHGs, helping them create a safe digital space for internal networking, information exchange, and growth. The core aim of the initiative was not just to educate women in digital tools but also to make them confident digital citizens capable of using free and accessible platforms to support and scale their own enterprises.

Participants were trained in a variety of topics including the use of a custom-designed communication tool, social media and digital marketing, online business strategy, cyber security, scam prevention, and legal frameworks related to small businesses. Mr. Ahluwalia, said: “We are proud to conclude our Project SHG Online, which aimed to create digital literacy and digital marketing awareness among SHG women.

Their dedication and willingness to learn has been inspiring. Many have overcome initial hesitation and fear of technology to adopt valuable skills that will help them promote their businesses, access new opportunities, and become confident digital contributors. This is not an end, but the beginning of a new digital journey for them.”

One of the participants shared, “We not only feel confident using digital tools now, but are also excited to explore more such platforms for our work. We’re eagerly looking forward to being a part of the second phase of this project, with even more advanced learning opportunities.”

Over the course of six months, the project featured a structured series of lectures and interactive workshops, ensuring hands-on experience for all the SHG members. The initiative aligns with Patiala Foundation’s broader mission of building digital awareness, self-reliance, and inclusivity at the grassroots level.

The closing event celebrated not just the completion of a project, but the beginning of a sustainable, tech-enabled journey for these remarkable women. The ceremony was also attended by senior Patiala Foundation team members Mr. Anmoljit Singh, SP Chand, Rakesh Badhwar, Dr. Karan Dang, and Rahul Sharma.

Senior member Dr. Abhinandan Bassi supervised the entire project, ensuring its successful planning, execution, and mentorship throughout its duration. Volunteers Gurwinder Singh, Aditya, Jaskaran, Ravaldeep, Vaishali, Saista Rani, Vasu Gulati, and Gul also played an important role in mentoring and assisting the participants during their learning sessions.

The project was also strongly supported by interns from prestigious institutions, including Ms. Pooja and Mr. Ankur from SPJIMR Mumbai, Ms. Muskan from TISS, and Ms. Namitha, Ms. Avanthika, and Ms. Sneha from RCSS Kerala, whose contributions helped shape the training delivery and engagement.
