District Development Commissioner Vikas Kundal assessed the working of Labour Department at a meeting held today in the meeting hall of the DC Office complex . The DDC reviewed the implementation of the labour welfare schemes under the Jammu and Kashmir Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board (JKBOCWWB).

He reviewed the progress made over the past year, focusing on the status of disbursements made under JKBOCWWB schemes to registered construction workers and beneficiaries, as well as fund utilization and scheme coverage.

The significant focus was laid on the review of pending court cases involving different departments. The Deputy Commissioner instructed the concerned departments to ensure timely legal responses and resolutions, emphasizing the need for coordinated efforts to prevent ex-parte decisions.

The meeting also highlighted the progress of e-Shram portal registrations, particularly for platform-based gig workers and employees in the unorganized sector. The DDC stressed the importance of launching mass awareness campaigns and on-ground support to accelerate registrations, ensuring that social security benefits reach the intended beneficiaries.

In preparation for the upcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra-2025, the DDC reviewed the registration process for service providers and labourers involved in Yatra arrangements. He directed the Labour Department to facilitate a seamless registration process and provide necessary assistance to the workers engaged as service providers.

The DDC reiterated the importance of prioritizing the welfare of labourers and workers. He directed the staff of the Labour Department to remain proactive, ensure proper delivery of services, and strengthen efforts toward the welfare and upliftment of workers across the district.
