Under Punjab Government’s call for Yudh Nashya Viruddh, a cordon and search operations (CASO) was conducted at five crime/drug hotspot locations in Khanna, Samrala, and Payal sub-divisions of district. Total force was led by six DSPs, seven SHOs, 165 personnel in 13 teams headed by their incharges under the supervision of SSP Jyoti Yadav Bains.

DIG Nilambari Vijay Jagdale was also present on the occasion.

The teams were given specific targets in terms of POs, listed drug smugglers, and wanted criminals. Apps like PAIS and VAHAN were used to check suspected persons and vehicles. During the operation, 66 suspects and 35 vehicles were checked and 14 were arrested following the registration of four cases. 

Further, 20-gm heroin, 150 gm Opium, 7 stolen mobile phones and 150 lomotil tablets were also seized. SSP Jyoti Yadav Bains added that the exercise was being done by the police department to ensure the masses that police were always there for their safety and protection and these search operations would put pressure on the miscreants and curb the crime. 

She added sensitive points were visited by police officials to convey the message loud and clear.
