In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Jalandhar Rural Police has successfully apprehended a notorious drug peddler and seized 50 grams of heroin during a special operation conducted in the Kartarpur area.
The arrested accused has been identified as Baldev Singh alias Ballo, son of Narinder Singh, a resident of village Jagatpura, Police Station Jhabal, District Tarn Taran. Senior Superintendent of Police, Harkamal Preet Singh Khakh said that acting on specific inputs, a special team of CIA Staff Jalandhar Rural, supervised by SP Investigation Jasroop Kaur IPS and DSP Investigation Sarvanjit Singh, conducted the operation near Link Road Kishangarh.
Inspector Pushap Bali, leading the operation with SI Nirmal Singh, intercepted the accused who was spotted on a white TVS Apache motorcycle (PB02-DD-3473). Upon thorough search, the team recovered 50 grams of heroin concealed under the motorcycle's seat in a wax-sealed envelope.
SSP Khakh added that the accused has a history of involvement in illicit drug trade and liquor smuggling. A previous case under sections 21B-61-85 of the NDPS Act was registered against him at Police Station Fatehgarh Churiya, District Batala in June 2023, for which he served two months in jail before securing bail.
The police have registered a fresh case (FIR No. 26 dated 07-02-2025) under sections 21B-61-85 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Kartarpur. The accused will be produced before the court to secure police remand for further investigation into his supply chain and distribution network.
SSP Khakh said that the police are conducting a thorough investigation to trace the source of the contraband and identify potential buyers. Additionally, a detailed examination of the accused's movable and immovable assets is underway for appropriate legal action.
