The Patparganj Assembly seat in Delhi has attracted much political interest, especially during the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections. The election saw a tough contest between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)'s Avadh Ojha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)'s Ravinder Singh Negi, and Indian National Congress (INC)'s Anil Chaudhary. Well-known UPSC tutor Avadh Ojha entered politics replacing Manish Sisodia, a well-known constituent personality. During the counting of votes, the question arose whether Ojha would be able to save the seat for AAP in the face of tough competition from more experienced candidates despite his recent political debut.

The Contest in Patparganj

The Patparganj seat has a history of fierce contests and changing party trends. In the 2020 election, AAP's Manish Sisodia won the seat by defeating BJP's Ravinder Singh Negi by around 3,207 votes. Sisodia's move to the Jangpura constituency enabled Awadh Ojha to represent AAP this time. To take advantage of this change, the BJP fielded Ravinder Singh Negi for the second time to take advantage of his previous knowledge and connection with the area.

Main Players Of Patparganj Constituency

Avadh Ojha (AAP): Popular UPSC trainer joins politics with AAP's support. Ojha, who started IQRA IAS Academy in 2019 after beginning his teaching career in 2005, then offered a new approach during last year's elections, and after that, he joined the Aam Aadmi Party.

Ravinder Singh Negi (BJP): After a close defeat in 2020, the seasoned politician and councillor contested for the second time in an attempt to change the tide.

Anil Chaudhury (INC): The former MLA and Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president aimed to bring the Congress back to power in Patparganj.

Patparganj Constituency Early Trends and Results

On the day of the election, initial predictions showed that the contest was a close one, with AAP's Avadh Ojha trailing BJP's Ravinder Singh Negi. Avadh Ojha was reportedly trailing by 18,902 votes, while Ravinder Singh Negi was ahead by 30,891 votes. By 10 am, Congress' Anil Kumar was in third place with just over 1,000 votes.

Patparganj: A Sample of Delhi's Political Mood

The Patparganj election results gave an idea of the general political mood in East Delhi and perhaps the entire city. The constituency became a small part of Delhi's electoral battle as the AAP retained its majority, the BJP tried to regain the seat and the Congress tried to regain it.
